Vintage Comic Book Collection
My comic book collection was started in 1958, when I began to read very early Marvel, and from some of my earlier childhood comics. It included more rare period comics, like Zap and Mother’s Oat.
My weekly trips to comic stores began in Seattle’s first (and only – at that time) comic store, located at The Pike Street Market, level 4 (toward the basement). There were 8 Levels to this complex, opening at Elliot Ave. The store later moved to the public, level 2.
When I moved to Grants Pass, in 1984, I then went to Medford’s only comic store, Beyond Comics. At that time, my primary interests were Conan (and related side-bars, like Red Sonja), and (of course), The Occult. I even began collecting Hellblazer (England), before Dark Horse Press moved it to Portland (as “Constantine”).
With more than 10 long boxes, and 12 short, my collection was appraised at $ 37,249.55, in 2019. Today, it is valued at more than $50.000, when sold at a wholesale comic store (bulk). It is impossible to ship, due to the large quantity of comics, and whomever is interested, must make a visit to Grants Pass, OR for a physical pick-up.
A complete inventory is available in an Excel format, to include current wholesale/retail prices. It is available upon request. I am asking $7,000 for this collection (FOB), and am not interested in selling specific titles.
